Topics (order of classes subject to change):
1. Sprinkler Protection for Data Centers (1 HR)
Standards (Edition) Referenced:
NFPA 13 (2025)
NFPA 75 (2024)
This presentation will discuss the fire protection of current day data centers and information technology equipment (ITE) rooms and as it relates to sprinkler protection. Data processing areas have been replaced with modern data centers and ITE rooms. As technology keeps moving forward, the fuel loads, risk, and downtime considerations have increased. Owners and users of these spaces demand first-class protection with little to no business interruption.
2. Sprinkler Protection for Parking Structures (1 HR)
Standards (Edition) Referenced:
NFPA 13 (2025)
NFPA 88A (2023)
This presentation provides an in-depth examination of fire protection requirements for parking structures, with a focus on sprinkler system design and compliance with NFPA standards. It covers the evolution of fire protection guidelines, recent changes in regulations, and challenges associated with modern vehicle hazards. Attendees will gain insights into occupancy classification, fire risks in parking facilities, and best practices for ensuring safety through effective fire suppression strategies.
3. Updates to NFPA 13, 2025 edition (4 HR)
Standards (Edition) Referenced:
NFPA 13 (2025)
The 2025 edition of NFPA 13 has been updated to include new technologies, more efficient means and methods, and modified requirements based on the latest research available. This presentation will review the significant changes that were made during the standard revision cycle. Significant revisions that were made by the installation, discharge, and hanging and bracing committees of the NFPA 13 will be discussed, as well as the impact of those revisions on sprinkler system design.
4. Updates to NFPA 13, 2028 edition (1 HR)
Standards (Edition) Referenced:
NFPA 13 (2028 First Draft)
The revision cycle for the 2028 edition of NFPA 13 has introduced several new topics for the installation of sprinkler systems. This presentation will specifically discuss first revisions that were made by the installation and discharge committees of the NFPA 13 and any committee inputs that are seeking public comment.
5. Updates to NFPA 25, 2026 edition (1 HR)
Standards (Edition) Referenced:
NFPA 25 (2026)
This presentation will discuss the revisions that were made to the 2026 edition of NFPA 25 Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. After a brief overview of the NFPA standard development process, the presentation will review the important changes made to the document during the first and second draft, including insights into the technical committee’s discussions during the meeting and intent.
